His first attempt wasn't great. He's had a little practice. Mary never did have much of a talent for cooking. It wasn't something he minded. He'd married Mary for her, not for her ability to cook (or not). Breakfast for John generally means coffee, but he's gotten accustomed to eating breakfast because Dean cooks it. He can take the job over from their son occasionally.
"Tinkering? Or going fishing and camping because you're welcome to all three, Sweetheart," he tells her with a crooked smile. He will make the camping as easy on her as he can and he won't expect her to fish at all. It'll be a chance for her to relax and them to spend some time together.
"Yeah? Maybe we should make a date to do this again. Or I can stock up the little kitchen in our place and figure out how to do this there."
