It's fine as long as he wants to and it's not that he feels he needs to take care of her. It goes both ways. She wants to have live go back to normal. She wasn't around then, but she's spending time with him now to show him nothing has changed for her.

And three of those seven years was just them. It wouldn't be a far leap to claim that they're basically still in the honeymoon phase.

"I thought I saw some stuff in the garage," she recalls just now. "Like father, like son. It sounds to me you three should also go on a trip." Of course Sam should be included.

Simple as it is, the declaration of it being a date steals another smile from her. Plus, his promise to look into it means she can look into something nice to wear. "I already look forward to it."
