There are plenty more little compromises like that one. But message received, loud and clear. She chuckles and can tell when she shouldn't spoil him anymore today. "Just eat, honey. You need your energy." If he does, he will see her mom skills haven't dulled. A quick kiss to it would make everything better. (She can handle a little burned bacon though. Her favorite kind is extra crispy.)
And she could sit there all day if he kept it coming (his laugh). Of course the food could too. One way or the other, his eye on her makes her melt like the butter on the pancakes. She'll wait for him to clear everything up, take the same chance to watch him while she waits. She could say the same about his swim trunks. They're not exactly boring given that she can see some leg. She leans into him and reaches around his neck, putting a quick kiss to his lips. "You don't look half bad yourself."
Similarly, her eyes work their way up to his. "What would you do if I didn't?" she asks affectionately in a voice as low as his rumble.
As her opinion is the only one that matters, John is glad she doesn't find the swim trunks *too* boring. He leans a bit into her when she pulls the kiss away so quickly. "Yeah? I don't think I've gone swimming in years," he confesses.
He reaches down to take her hand, fingers twining with hers then brings her hand up to his lips. "I would be well and truly lost, Darlin'," he assures her as he walks backwards toward the pool entrance, taking a step down into the shallow (here), warm water.
There is one other thing she loves more than food itself and it's watching him eat.
She'd give him another kiss but his confession pulls her attention to it. "We're gonna change that. Remember Clinton Lake." Of course the last time they went it was with Dean when he was very little but there were more stories than just that one.
Her response is to squeeze his hand when he places a gentle kiss to hers. No matter how many times he's done it before it always bring her lips to smile more at the corners. However, his words are bitter sweet. She can't bring herself to let a deeper thought take this moment away. "Good thing we're safe in doors," she points out the bright of being together, following his lead into the pool.
When he least expects it, she splashes him with a small amount of water then dives head first to lure him into the deep end. She promised him fun, remember.
